Chloe Interview with Barbara Bui

What does fashion mean for you?

A way to express your inner part and at the same time a wy to communicate with other

What’s your favorite piece you’ve ever created?

An embroidered jacket; glam rock attitude

What are you trying to communicate with your art?
I have no formal schooling in fashion design. Ever since my childhood, my twin passions were books and fashions. For a while my interest in books won out, and after finishing a Masters Degree in English Literature at the Sorbonne, I studied theater and
experimented with writing before turning instinctively to fashion design. In 1987, when I launched my own clothing label, my childhood passions came together, when I decided to write with fashion instead of words—with shapes, colors and lines.

What are your favorite fabrics to work with and why?
Leather because it is very sensual and strong at the same time

What is the most challenging part?
the more difficult is timing.

Does your work reflect your personal fashion taste? Can you describe your style?
My work reflect my personal fashion taste.

My style: Jeans or leather pants, leather blouson or jacket depending on the season, and La Petite Robe, the simple beautifully cut go-to, feel-good, anytime and occasion little Barbara Bui dress.

Who you wanted to be growing up?
I wanted to write book.

What piece of art would you most like to own?
a piece of art of Bill Viola.

What would you be your dream vacation?
Contemplating the sea every day in front of me when I wake up, and having a boat always ready to go.
