Wine Style with Angela Aiello

Angela Winestyle spring 16

Hello Darling,

Welcome to Spring. This time of year is truly wonderful. There are so many reasons for us to be inspired – from changing temperatures to the arrival of flowers. Oh, and not to mention a welcomed change of colour and flavour palates. No matter how long the Winter can be, Spring is always sure to follow. The new season breathes new life into the world around us, and gives us powerful momentum on our goals into the year. In many ways, Spring is nature’s way of saying, “Wake-up! It’s time to take action.”

As the Wine & Cuisine Editor, this time of year is always so exciting. The palate naturally moves toward light and wonderful flavours. Our menu begins to change to fresh Spring-time fare.

It is a time to bring colour into your wardrobe, your life and your home. It is also a time to entertain friends and look forward to sunnier days ahead. Your wine list should be filled with light, crisp and aromatic white wines, as well as light and full-bodied reds. Here are my top wine recommends for this enchanting time of year.

Cheers to sipping with a smile,

Angela Aiello

Try Something New

 Young Brute

Young Brute

A robust and delicious red blend (Shiraz & Cabernet Sauvignon) from Australia that delivers on quality, creativity and craftsmanship. Perfect for a romantic night in or to share at a dinner party, this beautiful red will not disappoint and shows the regional expression of Wrattonbully.

Pair Sauvignon Blanc with a fresh Goat cheese on your spring salads while brunching, freshly shucked oysters, or with a red pepper and spinach frittata.

Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc 750ml Bottle Shot - Non Vintage

Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc

Full of tropical and citrus aromas, this wine is a gorgeous example of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Anyone who appreciates finely made wine will love this.

Nobilo Regional Collection Sauvignon Blanc

Light and full of zest, this bottle is perfect for gatherings with friends and family. It simply tastes great, and is like happiness in a bottle.

Kim Crawford Pinot Noir

A perfectly balanced Pinot Noir, it will have you savouring every sip. New Zealand is one of my favourite places for Pinot Noir, and Kim Crawford is one of my top selections.

Ruffino Modus

This wine is a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot – what we call a Super Tuscan blend. It is hand harvested and aged in French and American oak barrels. This wine is full-bodied, has a silky finish, and will be loved by all who open it.
